If you conduct international transactions in Kosovo, there’s good news coming your way! The Tax Administration of Kosovo (TAK) has announced important modifications to the WR form, the document used for reporting withholding taxes on various types of income. These changes, effective from January 2025, aim to streamline tax reporting and reduce the administrative burden for businesses and individuals.
What’s Changing?
Starting in January 2025, the WR form will include a new column labeled “Country.” Taxpayers must now specify the country involved in their international transactions when submitting their forms. This addition is particularly beneficial for those dealing with cross-border financial activities, ensuring smoother tax compliance and eliminating unnecessary paperwork.
No More Double Taxation Forms
One of the most significant updates is the removal of additional forms required for Double Taxation Agreements. Previously, taxpayers had to submit separate forms for different types of income, including:
- Interest Income
- Dividend Income
- Property Rights Income
- Capital Gains
- Other Income
- Independent Services Income
- Dependent Services Income
- Business Profits Income
From 2025 onwards, as long as taxpayers declare international transactions using the updated WR form, these additional forms will no longer be required. However, for tax years 2024 and earlier, the existing process remains unchanged, and the older forms must still be submitted.
Who Benefits from These Changes?
This update primarily benefits taxpayers engaged in international transactions by:
- Reducing paperwork and administrative hassle
- Making tax filing more efficient
- Enhancing compliance with international tax regulations
For those conducting only domestic transactions, there are no changes—you can continue using the WR form as before without any additional requirements.
How to Submit the Updated WR Form?
TAK encourages all taxpayers to use the EDI platform for submitting their forms and fulfilling tax obligations. This online system simplifies tax filing, making it easier to stay compliant while benefiting from the latest changes.
