The Tax Administration of Kosovo (TAK) has reminded all taxpayers, including non-business individuals, business entities, and legal persons, of their legal obligations to declare and pay taxes on income generated from electronic supplies. This call to compliance is part of TAK’s intensified efforts to curb undeclared earnings in the rapidly expanding digital economy.
Electronic supplies encompass various digital goods and services such as software, streaming content, online advertising, and other electronically delivered products. With the digital economy growing swiftly, tax authorities worldwide are adapting their enforcement strategies to capture revenue from these often hard-to-track income streams.
In a statement released on May 6, 2025, Yll Shahini, spokesperson for TAK, emphasized the authority’s ongoing focus on identifying taxpayers who fail to comply with their tax duties related to electronic supplies. “TAK activities will continue to focus precisely on persons who do not declare income generated from electronic supplies and do not pay taxes on that income,” he said.
Non-compliance with these obligations risks punitive measures under Kosovo’s tax legislation. TAK has, therefore, urged all involved parties to ensure their declarations are submitted accurately and promptly. Those discovering errors or omissions in previous filings must correct them swiftly to avoid penalties and ensure full compliance.
The agency underscored that adherence to tax laws on electronic income fulfills legal obligations and directly supports the financing of essential public services. These include education, healthcare, social welfare programs, legal protections, security, and infrastructure development, all crucial for Kosovo’s economic and social progress.
As Kosovo’s digital marketplace continues to evolve, the effective taxation of electronic supplies remains a key element of sustainable economic policy. TAK aims to strengthen the country’s fiscal framework by ensuring transparency and accountability in digital transactions while promoting fair competition among all economic actors.
Taxpayers involved in electronic supply activities are advised to stay informed on the latest tax regulations and submit their returns promptly and accurately. TAK will continue monitoring compliance rigorously to safeguard the integrity of Kosovo’s tax system.
