The Servicio de Impuestos Nacionales (SIN) has announced a 15.6% increase in revenue from coercive tax collection actions between January and April 2025, compared to the same period in 2024.
According to SIN President Mario Cazón, coercive tax collections totaled Bs615 million in the first four months of 2025, up from Bs531.9 million in the same period in 2024, an increase of Bs83.1 million.
What Is Coercive Collection?
Under Bolivian tax law, coercive collection is the legal process used by the Tax Administration to recover outstanding tax debts and penalties that taxpayers have not paid voluntarily. These actions involve:
- Initiating timely administrative procedures.
- Identifying assets owned by the debtor.
- Preventing fraudulent insolvency, ensuring that the taxpayer does not evade payment by transferring or concealing assets.
This process ensures the integrity of Bolivia’s tax system and helps secure revenue vital for public services and development.
