Russian authorities have filed tax evasion and money laundering charges against Instagram-based life coach Inna Tliashinova, alleging the Dubai-based influencer failed to declare millions in income from her online self-help business.
The Moscow branch of the Investigative Committee said on Wednesday that Tliashinova, 43, owes 431 million rubles ($5.3 million) in back taxes and penalties from 2020 to 2022. An arrest warrant has been issued, and prosecutors are expected to seek her detention in absentia.
Tliashinova, who describes herself on Instagram as an “expert on the subconscious,” is known for selling online courses promising financial empowerment through spiritual healing and sexual energy. Her business reportedly generated annual revenues of around 200 million rubles ($2.5 million), according to the source.
She is the latest in a growing number of digital entrepreneurs targeted under a Russian tax enforcement initiative launched in 2022, aimed at individuals with undeclared earnings above 150 million rubles ($1.8 million). At least five influencers have been charged since the campaign began.
If convicted, Tliashinova faces up to three years in prison for tax evasion and as many as seven years for alleged money laundering. Russian investigators believe she moved funds in a manner consistent with laundering schemes, though details of the alleged financial routes have not been publicly disclosed.
Tliashinova currently resides in Dubai, according to her public social media profiles. Russia and the United Arab Emirates signed an extradition treaty in 2014, though its enforcement has historically been inconsistent.
The charges come amid a broader clampdown on social media figures operating outside Russia’s financial and legal oversight. Russia banned Meta platforms Instagram and Facebook in 2022, labeling the U.S. parent company an “extremist organization.” Nevertheless, many Russian users continue to access the apps via VPNs.
Tliashinova has not publicly responded to the allegations.
